Stake Land (2010)
This arrived in the mail from Blockbuster. I guess I added it to the queue a long time ago and completely forgot. I read the short synopsis on the back and thought, “oh dear, this might be dreadful.” But within the first 10 minutes, I loved it. It’s sort of like a zombie apocalypse movie but with vampires instead. And Danielle Harris (little girl from the Halloween series) is in it! There’s lots of violence and blood in this one. Check it out!
Yellow Brick Road (2010)
So a group of people decide to venture up a trail in New Hampshire to figure out why and how an entire population of a small town vanished along the path in 1940. As they work their way up, they start to hear music being played. They try to figure out where it’s coming from until it starts getting louder and louder, and they cannot find it’s source. They camp during the night, and try to cover as many miles as possible during the day. Eventually, everyone starts to become mentally and physically exhausted, and the music does nothing but cause them madness. As the days go on, one by one, each traveler starts going crazy. People start getting paranoid, scared, murderous… Good movie for the first hour. And then I started to get this bad feeling that there would be no good ending. That the conclusion would not answer all of the questions I had. And guess what?
It did not. I don’t even know what to make of the ending.
Watch it if you get a chance. I’m sure many people would love the thrill of it but you’ll either love the ending or absolutely hate it.
Cabin in the Woods.
THIS movie is exactly what I’ve been waiting for! I LOVED it! It was actually way better than what I had expected. When I first started seeing previews, I really had no idea what to think of it. All I knew was it was a horror film, where “teens” go to party in the woods, and Chris Hemsworth was in it, and I was sold. After seeing the preview a billion times, and getting super pumped for it to hit theatres, I started to get the feeling that it was a movie where the characters are forced into some other crazy dimension, and are filmed for some reality tv show, while they are being tortured with their worst fears.
The beginning of the movie totally threw me off… but eventually the little details began to lead me into figuring out what was actually going on. And HOLY SH!T! What a story! The things that these characters go through/see in the movie, or COULD have gone through and saw… HA! I’d rather face Jason or Michael Myers.
A definite MUST SEE for the horror movie addict. Completely crazy and ridiculous, as it was also a comedy, but soooo good and entertaining. Absolutely brilliant. Favorite character was definitely “Marty.”
horror-movie-confessions:
“I thought the oscillating fan sequences from Paranormal Activity 3 were pure genius.”
These were some of the BEST scenes in the movie.
horror-movie-confessions:
“The ending of Paranormal Activity 3 ruined the whole movie, and it just makes no sense.”
Agreed. I’m only hoping they explain some of it.. in the next one?
horror-movie-confessions:
“I think Jeepers Creepers was adorable. The smile that he does at the bus window(2nd film) was unbelievably cute.”
The Jeepers Creepers guy is the NUMBER ONE monster/villain that I would never want to meet. The way he smells and licks his victims, ewwww BLAH! Gives me the creeps just thinking about him. I’d rather be killed by zombies, Jigsaw, or Freddy Krueger.
TrollHunter was absolutely RIDICULOUS but I loved it! A Norwegian fantasy/horror mockumentary film, shot in shaky camera format (director’s love making these types of movies nowadays don’t they?) that follows a group of people documenting the adventures of a troll hunter. The trolls looked pretty funny but I thought the acting was awesome and believable which made the trolls not seem so bad. And there are different types of trolls which I thought was neat. If you haven’t seen this film, I definitely suggest you give it a look because it was pretty cool. I’d purchase it for my collection.
The Thing (2011)
I liked it but isn’t it supposed to be a prequel? because it was pretty much the SAME EXACT FILM as the 1982 version. I wanted something different, something more than what John Carpenter’s version had shown us. *sigh* I had high hopes for this… might as well call it a REMAKE!
The River on ABC.
So I finally sat down to watch the premiere last night and HOLY SH**! This show is crazy. I like everything about it. I found myself a bit stressed out at times because there is no main “bad guy” or monster. It’s like you have no idea what to expect next. And there’s magic involved? WHO KNEW that a tv show by Oren Peli, that involves shaky camera filming, lots of BUGS, spirits, and dark magic could be so interesting. The first episode, I was thinking, “ehhhh wtf is this?” And then after watching the 2nd episode, I was thinking, “WHOA! I can’t wait until the next episode! What’s going to happen? Where is Emmett? What was that thing that escaped that weird capsule that looks like a huge prune seed? What’s up with the mark on the back of the girl’s neck that matches the necklace? WHERE IN THE FLUCK DID ALL THOSE UGLY BABY DOLLS COME FROM? Where did the mom go when she was pulled into the shallow creek by that hand?
This is going to be good. I’m excited for this series.
Side note: Alcatraz is CRAZY, no idea where this is going. Still thinking aliens are involved. BEING HUMAN is SOOOO good! I’m also becoming a big fan or Lost Girl.
These are all Sci-fi shows though so no need to post about how much I love them anymore :-)
Apollo 18
I liked it! Outer space scares the hell out of me. If I were ever given the chance to travel in space, I wouldn’t do it. Anything can happen out there! There is so little that you can have control over, even if you have a team of AMAZING astronauts and scientists, and your traveling in the BEST spaceship ever made. Sunshine freaked me out. Pandorum freaked me out. They all do. When shit hits the fan out in space, there’s only so much one can do to fix it, if you can fix it at all.
Anyways… Apollo 18 takes us back to the moon. The movie was cool because you watch it while the video cameras are filming that are placed in different areas on the space craft. The characters also shot some of the movie from their perspective, which let us view in shaky camera. Anyways, they’re out looking around the area and start to notice strange footprints, they find a few bodies… they’re wondering WTF happened to these other astronauts, and what do these footprints belong to. A strange creature actually gets into one of the guy’s suits, and imbeds itself into the guy’s body, and the guy slowly starts to deteriorate and acts really weird. So while his crew member is trying to take care of him, his crew member is also exploring more of the moon’s surface….
Long story short though because I started this post along time ago and got busy at work… the rocks on the moon can CRAWL! EEEk! And there are other big creepy creatures on the moon as well. In the end, NASA doesn’t even want the guy orbiting the moon to go in and pick the rest of his crew up in fear that they will bring the madness back to earth.
I really liked the season premiere of Alcatraz!
It’s not exactly scary but creepy because there is a lot of shady business going on. And that ending!?! Totally, as my boyfriend would say, a “zinger.” I’m loving it though. I studied criminal justice in college so this is just my cup of tea :-)
I’m just wondering how the hell these prisoners are coming back from the past!! All the prisoners disappearing into thin air, and then coming back with no recollection of what happened, but killing people because “someone” or something ordered them to makes me think aliens are involved. I dunno lol. I feel like in so many movies that involve alien abductions the people always say that they don’t really know what happened while they were away.
I’m SUPER excited to see where this series goes!
